Valdosta - A South Georgia airman is discharged from the military and may be deported to Mexico. Liliana Plata received a general discharge under honorable conditions from the U.S. Air Force.

When she was 10 years old, Plata and her mother illegally crossed into the U.S. Last fall, Air Force investigators discovered that she had joined the military under the name of a person who she thought was dead. The woman was actually alive and living in Texas.

Plata has filed a petition for naturalization with the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration. Her lawyer says they hope to have a decision from that department in two to three months.
