The hearing is now set for three of the teachers who were told their contracts would not be renewed.

Fatima Jackson of Turner Elementary, Jennifer Smith of MLK Elementary, and Alberta Wallace of Sherwood Acres Elementary were all three named in the state investigation into CRCT tampering.

They appealed the board's decision not to renew their contracts.

"If you have a contract and you have tenure, you have a right to a hearing before being dismissed," said DCSS attorney Tommy Coleman. "That's what this is about. All of them have been given notice that they're not going to get contracts. The hearing is to determine whether that contract will be issued for this coming year."

The three will appear before a three-person tribunal made up of administrators from outside Dougherty County.

Their hearing is Tuesday morning at nine at the school administration building, and it's open to the public.

The School system sent non-renewal letters to nearly two dozen employees involved in the CRCT cheating case.
