    The Albany Police Depart is engaged in a recruitment campaign to get its officer corps up to full strength. APD is budgeted for 214 officers, and right now is about 20 officers short of that level, and

Captain Pete Conley of the United States Coast Guard Reserve takes command of Coast Guard Reserve Unit U. S. Southern Command in Miami, Florida during a formal Change of Command ceremony on July 14, 2012. 

Captain Conley is the son in law of Mr. Carl Dasher of Moultrie, Georgia.  Captain Conley will support U. S. Southern Command by providing key unit members to assist with the very important missions of U.S. Southern Command. 

His team will assist with  mission support that  includes, Stopping  Illicit Trafficking, Humanitarian Assistance / Disaster Assistance and Peace Keeping Operations throughout Latin America and the  Caribbean.   

Captain Conley addressed his new unit with a speech that emphasized service before self.
