Civil Rights Institute hosts community night

Posted: Updated:

The Albany Civil Rights Institute held a "community night" Thursday in hopes to better relations between the community and police.

The meeting was held at Civil Rights museum and several Albany Police officers were on hand to give crime fighting and personal safety tips.

One Civil Rights Institute official said it's important the community trust the police.

"The police are not the enemy. The police have a role that we need desperately to have performed," said Dr. C.W. Grant with the Civil Rights Institute.

Dr. Grant went on to say the community should invest in memberships at the Civil Rights Museum to keep the attraction and community nights like this going.
