LEE COUNTY, GA (WALB) -

A search is underway right now for three people who stole from a Lee County boutique.

Bonnie's Boutique on Highway 19 South in Lee County was ripped-off by two men and a woman around 10:30 AM.

Bonnie Bridges says her husband was in the back of the store when two men and a woman walked in around 10:30 and asked for a children's shoe from the back. This was all just a ploy.

"When he came around the display of the clothes he said he just happened to see one of the guys on the ground crawling in front of the jewelry case," she said.

By that time, the man had already swiped cash from a money bag. The trio then made their getaway.

Sheriff Reggie Rachals said they are looking for a "Small, white 4-door car. And the black female was the driver. As the two black males was leaving the store, she was backing up and getting out of here."

The car headed south toward Albany on US 19. Only cash was swiped, but Bridges realizes how it could have been different. "Had they wanted to hurt him, they basically could have."

Now she plans to arm herself "I will be carrying it with me all the time now, as well as my employee. She'll be carrying hers. It will be used at all times."

It's sad, she says that it's come down to this. "Yeah it's very sad that you get out and work so hard to make a living and you've got somebody then that's taking away that money you work to pay your bills with," Bridges says.

Now she and investigators are asking for the public's help in finding those who stole form her,

If you saw anything or have any info, call the Lee County Sheriff's office at 759-6014.
