LOWNDES COUNTY, GA (WALB) -

A Brooks County deputy crashed into a utility pole in Lowndes County early Wednesday morning. The crash knocked out power to a few homes overnight.

Georgia State Patrol believes Deputy Eric Frank was going about 70-miles per hour when he swerved to avoid a deer on Morven Road in Lowndes County at about 4 a.m. The exact speed will not be determined until a speedometer investigation is done.

Frank's car crashed into a utility pole in Nina Carter's yard. She and her neighbors lost power for five hours. But, Carter says she was only concerned about the deputy.

"He was kind of disoriented, like I'm sorry, I'm sorry.. apologizing profusely. He was dazed and out it," said Carter.

Deputy Frank was released from Brooks County Hospital today with no injuries. He is expected to return to work next week.
