Rep. Dukes speaks against sales tax

An Albany state representative speaks out against the proposed regional transportation sales tax.

The Governor, Lt. Governor, and many other state leaders support the referendum,
but Representative Winfred Dukes hopes you'll vote against it. The penny sales tax would be collected for 10 years, and the revenue would be used for transportation and infrastructure projects in the region where it's collected. But Dukes says we already have enough taxes.

"We will be paying 8% sales tax on everything we buy and quite frankly I feel like the people of our region and people of our community are being taxed to death," said Dukes.

Dukes says, before you vote, you need to think about whether the tax would really benefit you and your family.
