The committee appointed to find the next president of the University of Georgia has met for the first time.  Albany native Dr. Michael Adams is retiring next June.

The group has a list of ideal qualities they hope to find in the college's new leader and says they want a visionary fundraiser who has integrity.

The committee is tasked with narrowing down the list of about 30 to 50 candidates to about eight.

The final selection is up to the Board of Regents.

The Athens Banner-Herald reports (http://bit.ly/PHUbmo) the committee is set to meet again in about six weeks, and should have a good list of candidates to consider.

Quality candidates are more likely to come through nominations by contacts in higher education or from committee members.
