THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) - We now know a 21-year old Army veteran was carjacked and robbed before he was shot killed in Thomasville.

Investigators filed additional charges against the four suspects, including armed robbery, carjacking, and arson for torching the stolen car.

Aida Williams says she still can not believe her son is dead. "He came in and said Hassan was gone. I kept saying Hassan has gone where. And he said, Hassan passed away."

Last Tuesday, 21-year old Hassan Williams was found shot to death behind 402 Metcalf Avenue in Thomasville.

Less than 48 hours later, two men and two women were in the Thomas County Jail charged with murder.

And Tuesday, those charges also include hijacking a motor vehicle, arson, armed robbery, aggravated assault, and cruelty to children.

"There was a least one child present when these crimes were being committed," said Lt. Eric Hampton.

But the GBI says they are still following up on leads to figure out exactly what led to the crime.

"It's not fair to take away somebody like this from all of us, for nothing. After he did so much for us over there," said Aida Williams.

Williams' mother says she still does not know why her son was in Thomasville or even Georgia. "He had left here Sunday. I'm going to visit some friends in Virginia. So I don't know why he was there."

Williams was honorably discharged from the army on July 9th.

His mother says he enlisted to take care of his now two-year old daughter. "And he figured that was the best way. He can serve his country, take care of his daughter, and make her proud."

GBI investigators tell us the charges were filed based on information they received from the community.

But they say they the investigation is ongoing.

If you have any information about this crime, the GBI in Thomasville still wants to hear from you. Call 229-225-4090.
