DOUGHERTY COUNTY, GA -

Albany Firefighters put out hotspots at a house fire at 1513 Skylark Lane. It took firefighters over 40 minutes to put the flames out.

No one was inside the house at the time of the fire. A neighbor who lives across the street saw the flames shortly after 5:30am and called 911.

Firefighters arrived and tried to keep the flames from spreading to the two houses next door. The flames from the attic could be seen from at least two streets over.

We talked to a neighbor who is thankful the firefighters showed up when they did. "It could have been our house. It's sad that it happen to my neighbors. I know them very well," said Neighbor Kijuan Davis.

The attic and at least two others rooms had fire damage, while the entire house sustained smoke and water damage. Where the fire started and the cause is under investigation.

Albany Fire Investigator Sam Harris will be conducting an investigation. We'll keep following this story look for updates on walb.com.
