2nd District Congressional candidate visits Albany

Posted: Updated:

A 2nd District Congressional candidate says government is stifling small businesses.

Republican Rick Allen talked with voters Monday night at Corner Cafe in Albany.

He says if he's elected, he'll work to improve the educational system and help small business owners by reducing regulations.

"Regulations are strangling small business and most jobs are going to be created with small business in the private sector and I think that's what we need to aim for first of all," said Allen,

"I think we need an educated work force here in Southwest Georgia because if companies want to relocate here, the first thing they're going to look at is education," he continued.

Allen is president of a medical supply company in Columbus.

He's running against Ken Deloach and John House in the Republican primary for the right to face Congressman Sanford Bishop in November.
