A night at the theatre turned tragic in Aurora, Colorado when a gunman opened fire during the midnight premier of The Dark Knight. And people in Valdosta, GA have mixed feelings about whether they'll head to the theatre this weekend or not.

The Valdosta Stadium Theatre was packed at 2:00 this afternoon with moviegoers out to see their favorite flicks. The most popular movie this weekend is expected to be The Dark Night.

Eric Alexander is a big fan of the batman franchise.  "I've seen all the Batmans, they're pretty good."

However, he says despite his love for batman movies the shootings will keep him out of the theatre this weekend. "Eventually I was going to see it, but I don't know if I'd come to the movie theatre.  I'll probably see it at the house or something like that."

But Kristie Winningham has a different view.  "You're going to have violence everywhere, it's going to happen you could be at the grocery store, it's going to happen. It's just a sad situation, but it's going to happen."

The Valdosta Police Department doesn't plan on increasing security at the theatre unless they are asked to by management.

"I don't know that we'll have extra officers out, just the normal amount that we usually have." Mayor John Gayle thinks the people of Valdosta won't shy away from the theatre this weekend. "I don't think people are going to let this deter them from going to the movies at all."

Many moviegoers are expected to come out for the Friday night premiere of the Dark Knight.

VPD Lieutenant Aaron Kirk says he's pretty confident in the police department's emergency response plan.

We talked to the theatre manager today and he expects big crowds this weekend as usual.
