A Dougherty County school board candidate says it's an outrage and embarrassment that millions of dollars in federal grant money for the system is frozen.

The state Department of Education won't disburse the money until the system provides paperwork to prove they didn't misspend Title One funds.

School Board at large candidate Lane Price says with school starting soon she worries how the system will work without the money.

Board Member Anita Williams Brown says the problem is just a miscommunication.

"Schools starting. We don't have the money.  How are the children going to be fed?  It's a good question.  And when is the board going to meet," said Lane Price, School Board Candidate.

"Evidently it's in the mail, as they say.  But when they get those documents they are going to find out we have been following the guidelines," said Anita Williams Brown, School Board Member.

Price said the school board chairman needs to call an emergency meeting to deal with this issue.
