CORDELE, GA (WALB) -

An area technical college is reaching out overseas to attract more international students.

South Georgia Technical College is implementing a new International Initiative to recruit students from all over the world and encourage business opportunities for Sumter County.

School officials say it will benefit students and help the community's economy.

"Man of these students have a means to come this way, thus there is a degree of influence in their countries, and we feel like if we can show them South West Georgia and South Georgia Tech, we can have an opportunity to grow in our community as well, " said Sparky Reeves, South Georgia Technical College President.

The school will develop a new International Center on campus to provide international students with the help they need to be successful in a foreign country.
