DOUGLAS, GA (WALB) -
Douglas police are still investigating a teenager's fatal shooting inside Coffee Regional Medical Center.
16-year old Dakota Porter was visiting a friend at the hospital last week.
Police say he brought a gun with him into a room on the second floor.
Five other people were in the room when police say Porter accidentally shot himself in the head.
"He was playing," said Douglas Police investigator Randy Ryles. "We don't have any reason at this point to believe that he actually intended to end his life."
Investigator Ryles says some people in the hospital did panic when they heard the gunshot, but hospital officials and police responded quickly.
The hospital told us in a release that the safety of patients and visitors is very important to them.
