SYLVESTER, GA -

Is it controversy or no big deal?

Worth County Commissioners called a special meeting Thursday night to deal with a tax issue, but some commissioners say it was a waste of time.

Chairman Matt Medders told us it was called because tax commissioner Tabetha Dupriest would not hand over tax revenue to the county as required.

Most commissioners said the issue could have been handled with a simple personal request, not a special meeting.

One commissioner openly expressed his frustration at the meeting.

"We are failing. We are failing the community and we are failing the constituents of this county by conducting ourselves this way. Whether it's politically motivated, whether it's personal or whatever it is, this is very childish," said District 1 Commissioner Tony Hall.

Before Thursday's meeting, Dupriest transferred motor vehicle tax revenue every two weeks but only handed over property taxes once a month.

She agreed to start doing both every two weeks.
