MILLER CO., GA (WALB) -

Georgia State Patrol troopers are investigating a car crash in Mitchell County that killed a woman.

Troopers tell us the driver of a Silver Volkswagen ran a stop sign on Highway 37 at the intersection with Highway 93 near Sale City.

An oncoming Buick slammed into the car.

There were two women in the Volkswagen.

One died at the scene. The other was taken to Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville with serious injuries.

The Driver of the Buick suffered minor injuries and was out walking around at the scene.

"The Volkswagen was traveling southbound on Georgia 93. The front end of the Buick which was traveling westbound impacted the driver side door of the Volkswagen," said Georgia State Patrol Trooper Allen Parker.

Officials were still working to notify the victim's relatives, so we don't know her name yet.

Witnesses told us this is a dangerous intersection that's been the site of a fatality before.

Just feet from Wednesday's crash site, we saw a memorial marker of another fatal wreck.
