Dougherty County school board candidate Lane Price has a plan to improve the system's graduation rate.

The plan focuses on reading in third grade, math in eighth grade, and consistent curriculum throughout the entire school system.

Price says the system needs to identify potential drop-outs early on and provide additional instruction in content areas and in study habits.

Finally, she says the school system also needs to collaborate with businesses and organizations.

"This can be done, it's going to take a lot of work, a lot of focus, a lot of dedication. But we have people in this community that have all of that because we have a community that recognizes that our school system's not where it ought to be," said Price.

Price says her plan will increase the 56% graduation rate.

She's running against incumbent Anita Williams-Brown.
