THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) - The man found shot to death in Thomasville is an Army veteran from South Carolina, but police still don't know who killed him or why.

21-year old Hassan Hana Williams was found dead Tuesday on Metcalf Avenue.

He was honorably discharged from the Army just nine days ago and was living with his parents in South Carolina.

Police say Williams moved back to his parents house in West Columbia, South Carolina, not even ten days ago.

Investigators have no idea what he was doing in Thomasville.

"We do know that he did receive gun shot wounds to his body. We are not releasing any other information at this time, but he did receive two gun shot wounds," said Lt. Eric Hampton.

We spoke with several folks who live close to where Williams body was found on Metcalf Avenue and none of them said they heard any gun shots.

The 911 call came in to Thomasville Police around 9:45 Tuesday morning saying a man was lying face down behind this house at 402 Metcalf Avenue.

"We still do not have a suspect at this time. It is a current investigation that's on the way by the GBI, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, the Thomasville Police Department, and the Thomas County Sheriff's Department," said Hampton.

Investigators are still unsure whether Williams was killed on Metcalf Avenue or if his body was moved there.

"Thomasville is not a city where we have a lot of homicides here. We do have them, but they are not very common," said Hampton.

Investigators say they have a new way for folks to send in information about a crime anonymously.

"We have not received anything so far that we know of on the "text a tip", but we are still encouraging people to text us if they have any information about this crime," said Hampton.

Before his discharge, Williams was stationed in Fort Campbell, Kentucky and served one tour in Iraq.

If you have any information about this crime you are asked to call crime stoppers at 229-227-3305 or text THPD to 274637.
