SMITHVILLE, GA -
A little boy is dead after he was shot in Smithville Monday evening, as children played with a gun they found in a closet.
10-year-old Ricky Jenkins died at Phoebe Putney Hospital after the shooting.
We're told several kids were playing with a .410 shotgun outside 141 Railroad Street in Smithville a little after 6:00 p.m.
Officials say that a seven-year-old was handling the shotgun, and it went off, striking Jenkins in the leg.
The GBI says that they have no plans to file charges at this time.
