MOULTRIE, GA (WALB) -

One Moultrie church celebrated a milestone, Sunday, more than a century in the making.

The members of Mother Easter Baptist Church celebrated its 118th anniversary.

The theme for the day was "Remembrance and Renewal: Celebrating Our Past, Anticipating Our Future."

Dougherty County Superior Court Judge Willie Lockette was the guest speaker.

The church's pastor says Mother Easter Baptist Church has played a critical role in Moultrie for the past 118 years.

"I believe we are vital to the continuing growth and strength of this community as we continue to reach out to those who are coming up and looking at us. I think we do play a vital role in this community," said Senior Pastor Freddie Castle.

Pastor Castle went on to say he hopes the church will be open for another 118 years from now.
