
One sport growing in popularity is archery.
The growth of archery has now reached Darton College.
Darton College adding archery as a club sport.
31 students signed up for the team during an organizational meeting this spring.
The number could grow now that Darton has gotten a $5000 grant for equipment from the Easton Foundation.
The money has bought 15 bows, arrows, targets, other accessories and helps cover some of the start up costs for the club program.
Darton applied for the grant through the US Collegiate Archery Association.
Team Captain Nicolas Williams said. "Most of the students seem to be pretty excited from what I have heard. The guys just look forward next fall. Not many other clubs get this opportunity. We are very lucky and we are very excited to start."
Darton will also add two archery classes to their P.E. program.
The Darton Archery team starts competition next spring.
