An Albany man gets a stiff prison sentence after pleading guilty to burglarizing a West Highland flower shop while he was drunk.

Some quick-thinking witnesses helped catch him.

48-year-old Kenneth Varner pleaded guilty to burglary and obstruction of an officer, and was given a 20 year total sentence the first ten to serve in prison.

Prosecutors say he has a history of committing burglaries.

On June 20, 2011 three men said they saw Varner burglarizing the flower shop.

They called police and coaxed Varner to stay until police arrived by offering to buy him a beer.
