Moultire man shoots at robbers

MOULTRIE, GA (WALB) -

A Moultrie man shot at two men who were trying to rob him.

Around midnight Sunday, 40-year-old Barry Shenck noticed he was being followed on the way back to his home from taking the trash to the dumpster.

As he got to his front door, a man jumped out from behind a fence.  Shenck managed to make it into his home, grab his gun, and fire shots at the ground.

Moultrie police say while it is ok to protect yourself, firing a gun should be a last resort.

"He was in a position where he could take some measures to protect himself but again you know, it may not always work out that easy, so we you just kind of have to use caution," said Moultire Police Investigator Dave Underwood.

No charges have been filed, and Shenck was not hurt.
