BERLIN, GA (WALB) -
A south Georgia couple got a pleasant surprise Monday night when their son returned home after more than a year and a half on overseas duty in the Air Force.
Airman Cory Bridwell showed up at his parents home in Berlin unannounced, though other family members were in on it.
He was stationed with his wife and baby girl in Okinawa, Japan for a year and eight months. This is the first time his family got to meet little Chloe.
Bridwell says it's great to be home, though he wasn't able to fool his mom completely. Cory said, "It's great. It felt good to be here finally see everybody. Been waiting a long time to come back so." His mother Tina said, "I knew something was up there was too much sneaking around talking."
The family is throwing a party for his Chloe's first birthday. Bridwell also plans to go fishing and see a Braves game while he's home.
