Grand Jury shocked by number of Albany burglaries

Posted: Updated:

The foreman of the Dougherty Grand Jury said he was shocked by the number of burglaries committed in Albany.

In the jury's presentments, they gave some suggestions on how to deal with the problem.

Ronald Dees was the foreman for the May term of the Grand Jury.

The jurors presentment outlines their thoughts on their service.

They recommended that law enforcement and civic and faith-based organizations work together to educate young people to try to keep them away from gangs, crime and drugs.

"Burglary. I didn't realize it was to this extent. Also domestic violence and it seems like a lot of domestic violence is just over trivial things," said Ronald Dees, Dougherty Grand Jury Foreman.

The Grand Jury also recommended that a county-wide curfew be strictly enforced and parents be held accountable for their kids.
