At a APD news conference this morning, Albany Police Captain Reginald Brown told correspondents that he made the decision to stop last night's Fourth of July fireworks display.
Brown said that the final straw was the fact that someone used mace or pepper spray in a crowd of people, downtown.
He said that unsupervised teenagers running around causing problems already had the situation on edge, and the spraying caused him to pull the plug at 10:03PM.
It began at 9:30.
Brown said there were several fights, apparently un-related. There were also two arrests during the evening.
WALB will have more on this story this evening.
