THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) - The heat wave is passing and temperatures are on the way back to normal summertime levels.

When it does get dangerously hot, it is important to realize specific dangers of heat exhaustion.

Health officials say rapid pulse, head aches, dizziness, and even nausea are symptoms that you are dehydrated.

If you feel any of these symptoms, do not take them lightly. "Watch for red skin on someone else that you might not be able to see on yourself. But there won't be any sweating, that means they've already dehydrated. Drink plenty of fluids. Avoid alcohol. Avoid sweet drinks," said Women's Health Nursing Supervisor Connie Gilbert.

Health officials say that older folks are more likely to get overheated, but healthy individuals can easily fall victim to heat-related illnesses.
