Despite the heat, thousands of people came out to enjoy some early 4th of July festivities.

Sunday night, the Freedom Festival was held by Sherwood Church at Legacy Park.

"Because if they don't know it, who is going to tell them," said Daniel Vickers. "We need to tell them right now so we can get out the message."

People got to enjoy music, listen to a speaker who experienced Black Hawk Down, and also get a history lesson about the different branches of the military.
