UPDATE:

An Albany Police officer, two adults and four children have been taken to the hospital after a car crash.

It happened Saturday afternoon on South Jefferson Street and Whitney Avenue.

Officials say 22 year-old Dmitria Kennard, was traveling west on Whitney Avenue in a Ford F-150 and 41 year-old Corporal Gary Price was driving south on Jefferson Street when the vehicles collided.

The police SUV struck the F-150 in the passenger side door, causing the truck to overturn.

Authorities say the officer was responding to a call and in route to Lee Street and had his blue lights on.   Officials say they have not determined who caused the crash.

23 year-old Shykem Nix was riding in the front passenger seat of the F-150 and four children were in the back seat.  Their ages range from one to 15 years-old.

"Right now we have two vehicles that collided at Jefferson and Whitney," said Albany Police information officer Phyllis Banks. "The collision is now under investigation. Everyone involved has been transported to the hospital including an officer."

Investigators have not determined who's at fault.

The officer was traveling with his canine partner and the dog was not injured.
