Jailer arrested for forgery

Posted: Updated:

A suspended Worth County Jailer had her second first appearance this morning in front of a Dougherty County Judge.

Martisha Lumpkin, AKA Martisha Williams, was arrested at the East Albany Walmart Wednesday night where police say she forged a check.

She appeared before Magistrate Judge Baxter Howell and was granted a $5,000 bond.

This is Lumpkin's, or Williams' second arrest in less than a week.

Earlier this week, she was arrested after GBI agents say she stole an inmate's identity at the Worth County Jail.

Agents say Lumpkin and City Councilman Larry Johnson used the inmate's identity to file a fraudulent tax return.
