A school board candidate says now that the career academy decision has been made, school leaders need to focus on other ways to boost the graduation rate.

Dr. Lane Price told us the school board should now focus on improving all four high schools to raise the standard of learning and educational success in those schools.

"Let's go now to make all the schools a success story. We don't have the academy to depend on, but this gives us the impotence to do a whole lot more with the schools that we do have," said Dr. Price.

Dr. Price says the system must also work to get students off to a successful start in elementary school so they'll be more likely to succeed in high school.

She's running for the at-large seat against board member Anita Williams Brown.
