Some breaking news developed Tuesday evening as Albany Panthers head coach Lucious Davis shared with WALB after practice that as of Tuesday night he will not be returning to the team after Saturday's PIFL championship game against the Richmond Raiders.
Davis said he hadn't shared this decision with anyone as of Tuesday night but that he wants to spend more time with his children back home in Houston. He says it was a tough decision because the Panther organization gave him his first head coaching job and allowed him to run things the way he wanted. He's been the Panthers' head coach since January of 2010 leading the Panthers to 3 playoff appearances and 2 championship appearances.
Davis also shared his love for the players that hit the field for him game in and game out but its time that he focuses on those closest to him.
Davis said "I've prided my self on being a good coach. I think now its time for me to be the best Dad I can be so that's the only thing making me lean towards that."
While Davis did say he doesn't plan on returning he also went on to say "who knows what will happen in the off season"
