The teenager who died Tuesday afternoon in a private swimming pool has been identified as 15-year-old Jamar Ponder of New Jersey. The Albany Child Death Team is investigating.
Emergency Crews were called to a swimming pool in the 100 Block of Rosewood about 5:30PM.
Police say Ponder was pulled from the pool and rushed to the hospital, but did not survive.
Albany Fire Chief James Carswell said the water in the pool was so murky that rescuers could not see the teen, but had to suit up in scuba gear to go in and find the victim.
It was apparently being 'shocked' and the chemicals caused the water to be milky.
