DCSS board member meets with ethics panel

Posted: Updated:

Dougherty County School Board member Velvet Riggins should find out soon whether she'll be suspended as she awaits trial. Accused of filing fraudulent free school lunch forms.

Monday, she met with a 3 person ethics panel appointed by Governor Nathan Deal.

That panel is scheduled to recommend to the Governor Friday whether to suspend Riggins from office pending the outcome of her case.

Riggins was indicted in April on two felonies and two misdemeanors after being accused of falsifying papers so that her children would receive free or reduced lunch.
