Orphaned baby skunk shows need for wildlife volunteers

TIFTON, GA (WALB) -

There was nothing smelly about this rescue. Just a lot of cuteness.

A baby skunk was the only survivor after his mother and three siblings were killed crossing a road in Tift County. A rescuer took to the little guy to the Georgia Wildlife Rescue Association.

The statewide non-profit that protects wildlife needs help transporting and caring for orphaned and injured animals. Anyone can join. GWRA Executive Director Chet Powell said, "This organization is made up of everything from professional veterinarians and wildlife rehabiliators with thirty plus years to people who never really have been around wildlife, and they just want to do their part to support it."

If you want to help the Association or learn more about what you should do if you see an injured or abandoned wild animal, go to their web site at www.georgiawildliferescue.org.
