Hammond's NBA dreams still alive

Posted: Updated:
CAIRO, GA (WALB) -

There are hundreds of basketball players wanting to hear their name called in next week's NBA draft. The reality is only 60 players will be selected in the draft next Thursday.

It has been four years since Cairo's Cliff Hammonds went through the draft process. Hammonds has spent most of his time playing overseas in Europe but this week he is back home hosting his first ever kids basketball camp.

Hammonds brought in good friend and former Thomasville High star Ladarius Hall to speak to the kids. Hall just finished his college career at West Texas A&M. Hall is also looking to sign with the European team, with both players hoping it leads back to the states.

Hammonds shared his thoughts on going to Europe,"Everybody is fighting to be an NBA player because that is the best league in the world. We are going to take going overseas because the Euro League is the second best league in the world."

Hall is also hoping to attract offers from other countries."I am trying to look for different offers in pro basketball like Barcelona, Switzerland and Germany. Hopefully, some doors will open."
