Many veterans returning from overseas suffer some sort of trauma, but often times family and other people don't quite understand how to deal with it.

But today, a training program was held to help family members of veterans, law enforcement officers, courtroom staff and others understand Trauma and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, along with what kind of impact it can have on a family.

The training, done at the Hilton Hotel in Albany, helps those identify signs, and provides a list of resources where folks can get help. It's an effort to bring awareness on the trauma veterans suffer all around the state.

"We are trying to as a state really show that we are concerned with what is happening to our veterans," Kimberly Paul of Jail Diversion and Trauma Recovery. "What's happening to the family members of our veterans and how we can better serve them."
