Lester still doubtful for Lions

Posted: Updated:

The Albany Panthers sat out quarterback Cecil Lester last week with the hopes his injured knee would be ready for Saturday's playoff game against Columbus.

With the PIFL semifinal game now three days away, head coach Lucious Davis says a final decision on Lester's status for Saturday will likely be made on Thursday.

Lester says he will be limited in practice this week but plans to work with the first team offense.

Lester hasn't played in the Panthers two losses this season and he wants to be in the lineup Saturday.

Cecil Lester said. "Just being in the huddle with the guys I hadn't been in the huddle since last week so I need to get back in the huddle with the guys. If I can't go, that's the only thing that I'll miss. Mentally I'm still on focus. I'm watching a lot of film and just being prepared."

Panthers host Columbus at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
