Young basketball players from all over state went camping in Albany, hoops style. Albany State played host to its 12th annual high school team camp over at the HPER Gym. Over 25 middle and high school teams packed the gym at Albany State this weekend. Its a good chance for area coaches to get a look at some of the best talent the state has to offer all in one setting.
It wasn't a tournament style but each team still got some good competitive action against each other. Organizers say it's also a good way for high school athletes to hone those skills instead being out of shape in the summer.
Chris Cameron said "One of the reasons we started having our camp is because we understood that there was a void that needed to be filled here in South Georgia in terms of high school teams getting the opportunity to train this summer against good competition without having to go broke in the summer and that's the whole reason we started our camp so we can give those kids the opportunity to come and play and try to improve on their team skills in the summer."
Cameron went on to say that the caliber of teams goes up every year
