Locked and reloaded, that's the mindset the Valdosta State football team will take into the fall after a rather forgetful ending to its 2011 season. The Blazers lost its last 3 games of the season by a total of 7 points. They were all close games coming down to the final minute of play.
But VSU has reason to be optimistic about next year with a more mature team and play makers on both sides of the ball. Pair that with a talented recruiting class and you have all the makings of a team ready to compete for not only a gulf south conference championship but a national championship as well.
"The majority of our starters are back. There are a few positions that we lack a little bit of depth that we're trying to find depth on and we gotta develop some players at that point and maybe have some high school kids, some freshman come in and provide some depth."
Blazers open the season at Saginaw Valley State on September 1st
