ROCHELLE, GA (WALB) -

A Rochelle woman is jail Thursday after hitting a man in the head with a hatchet and cutting his throat.

Rochelle Police say 42-year-old Regina Legrier went to Jimmy Caswell's house Wednesday night around 7 on Stephens Street and tried to rob him.

Cops say Legrier hit Caswell in the head with a hatchet and in defense Caswell stabbed her with a box cutter.

Cops were called and Legrier was taken to Tift Regional. She then left the hospital, went back to Caswell's house and then cut his throat.

Cops tell us he was taken to Tift Regional where he is in fair condition Thursday.

Legrier faces attempt to murder a witness, armed robbery and two counts of aggravated assault charges.
