Students from LaGrange College volunteered their time to sponsor a collection drive for the Lily Pad.

Officials from LaGrange College presented a one thousand dollar check to the Lily Pad today.

85% of the families they serve in Dougherty County fall below the poverty level.

Lily Pad officials say this money is greatly needed.

"Frequently, especially in the winter time we will have children who choose a blanket over a toy when presented with the type of comfort items we can give them, so a lot of times our volunteers end up handing them two items when they leave," said Lily Pad Interim Exec. Director Amy Boney.

The money will go toward buying supplies for the sexual assault program at the Lily Pad.
