MACON, GA (WALB) -

The GISA football and basketball state championships are moving to Mercer University.

The two parties signed a six year contract in Macon Tuesday afternoon.

The GISA will move their basketball semifinals and finals to Mercer's University Center next season.

The football state championships will move in 2013 to Mercer's football stadium which is scheduled to be completed next summer before the Bears football team plays their first game.

The University's head coach Bobby Lamb says Mercer is the perfect location to host the GISA football championship games and will help spread the word about what the Bears can offer recruits.

Bobby Lamb said. "Just get the student athletes on campus is one of the tough things to do today's market. If we can do that by hosting the championships, then that is a bonus for us."

Coach Lamb says he wants Mercer to host other high school football contests at their new stadium.
