With four straight conference titles and now a national championship, Valdosta State coach Thomas Macera has proven he knows the game of softball. This week, coach Macera working with a younger group of players.
Turnout for his annual softball camp is very good this year. This isn't surprising after VSU won the DII National Championship last month. Macera says who knows a future Blazer softball star could be on the field this week. While many coaches believe pitching is the key to a championship, Macera thinks just the opposite.
Macera said "The number one error in softball is throwing. So, we worked a lot on throwing. We spent a good deal of time on hitting. Which I think is the hardest thing in softball. I think you win more games hitting than not hitting."
Coach Macera will host a hitting camp next month at Valdosta State.
