TALLAHASSEE, FL -

Florida State is relying on two freshmen pitchers to help them get to the College World Series Omaha this weekend.

FSU coach Mike Martin has picked freshmen Brandon Leibrandt and Mike Compton to start games one and two of the Super Regional series  against Stanford.

Brandon Leibrandt is the son of former Atlanta Braves pitcher Charlie Leibrandt.

The younger Leibrandt had his best outing of his rookie season when he shut out Samford in the regionals on Saturday.

He may be a freshman but Brandon says he has grown over his first season at Florida State.

Brandon Leibrandt said. "A lot of growth and development has gone on. Working on smoothing over my mechanics. Sharpening everything up. Trying to get better each and every day. Trying to keep level headed. Not to get outside yourself. Do what you can all year long and it will work out well for you in the end."

Game 1 of the series is 7:00 p.m. Friday and game 2 is 6:00 p.m.on Saturday.

If the series goes to game 3, it is 7:00 p.m. Sunday.
