lance Corporal Steve Sutton is being laid to rest at Crown Hill Cemetery in Albany. His funeral took place at Leesburg First Baptist Church at 2:00PM.

The Lee County Marine known as Big Steve was killed in an IED blast in Afghanistan a week and a half ago.

The VFW Post is joined the people who watched the procession, as did the ROTC elements from Lee County High and Monroe High. They erected almost 900 American flags, which lined the route to the cemetery.

The public brought American flags and lined the route starting at the McDonald's in Leesburg all the way down U.S. 19 to 3rd Avenue in Albany, then west to Dawson Road, and north to Crown Hill Cemetery.

Last night was a chance for the community to express their sympathy to the family. People who knew him and many who didn't gathered at Kimbrell Stern Funeral Home for a public visitation.

That included this group of motorcyclists. Some of them are Patriot Guard Riders who are escorting the funeral procession today.

WALB will have coverage of the procession on our website, and will recap the events in our evening news.
