The recent vandalism of the Vietnam War Memorial in Albany is a despicable crime.
The vandals covered the names of those who served and gave their lives as well as smeared a substance across the monument.
Although most of that substance was cleaned, not all of it could be removed.
Local veterans and many in the community are now attempting to raise funds to have the monument restored.
Many men and women, maybe even some of your relatives or friends, have died and continue to die to protect our country and the freedoms many take for granted.
Just this week, our community will say goodbye to Lt. Corporal Steve Sutton, killed in Afghanistan recently while fighting for YOUR freedom and security.
We have a suggestion for you, instead of declaring war on local monuments that honor, consider living a life of honor.
