Knoxville gives Albany all they had, Panthers win by 10

Posted: Updated:

The one win Knoxville Nighthawks looked more like a playoff contender as the Albany Panthers held on for the 74-64 win at the Civic Center Saturday night.  The two teams went blow for blow in the first half.  The defense that had carried the Panthers for much of the season struggled to get stops.

The offense had no problems moving the ball in the first half as Cecil Lester hooked up with Antwone Savage and Clinton Rafe for multiple touchdown passes. The two teams exchanged scores for much of the 3rd quarter and it was a Antwontis Cutts interception late in the 4th that helped seal the win.

Albany is now 9-1 on the season and will continue to try to lock up home field in the playoffs next week at Columbus.
