An East Albany funeral home director declares his innocence today saying he was set up by a former employee who tried to blackmail him.
John Litman and friends and family prayed outside his funeral home this morning thanking God that theft by receiving charges were dropped in a pre-trial intervention agreement.
Litman said a former employee who demanded three thousand dollars in a blackmail scheme led to the criminal charges.

"I didn't loan him the $3,000 dollars. He chose to go downtown and tell lies literally on me. That precipitated all of this activity. Well they were not true. From day one we have proclaimed our innocence. And to this day we proclaim our innocence," said John Litman, JL Litman Memorial Funeral Service Owner.
"It's a standard operational procedure when we can preserve a person who has not been afoul of the law beforehand. And it's an opportunity for a person to resolve this record," said Greg Edwards, Dougherty D.A.
